Post-Natal (Mum & Baby) Pilates
Want to recover from pregnancy and labour? Megan Rees (Chartered Physiotherapist and APPI Rehabilitative Pilates Instructor) is a mum of 2 & understands the pressures of a young baby. Private sessions available.
Benefits of exercising post partum: ¨ Prevent incontinence ¨ Restore core control ¨ Rehab/strengthening of abdominals ¨ Maintenance of bone density ¨ Hasten recovery ¨ Increase fitness ¨ Weight Loss ¨ Psychological well being ¨ Reduce anxiety |
After a 6 week check with the GP, low to moderate intensity exercise can resume & Pilates is a great way to rehabilitate your pelvic floor & tummy, as well as condition your body for the postures & loads that being a mum entails. After a C-section it is advisable to wait 8-12 weeks & be guided by GP or midwife.
Our Pilates sessions are open to riders and non riders but here are a few examples of how Pilates has helped ridden posture and balance.
Want to improve your jumping technique?
"Since starting Pilates classes, I have improved my core strength and balance considerably. I am now able to ride with much better alignment and can stay with Caspar's movement over jumps, allowing me to be more effective. This has also helped him to use his body correctly and jump more fluidly. I have attended Russell Guire's Rider Analysis clinics of the past few years and he has noticed a significant improvement in both my dressage and jumping positions following the work I've done in both mounted and unmounted Pilates."

Want to sit straighter?
The left photo is before just 3 Equipilates™ sessions, the right one is after.
“I feel a lot better. I am straighter and in less pain. I've been doing the exercises everyday. I can ride better and the increase in my hip range of movement is substantial. The programme has helped my health as I am now able to take less painkillers because I have significantly less pain. I am able to ride more horses for longer periods of time.” |
